Sanctuary Data and Device Hub
New Arrivals Support CIC is now an approved partner of Good Things Foundation and a delivery hub for the National Databank and the National Device Bank. This is a national digital inclusion programme that provides free mobile data and devices to people experiencing data poverty.
We will be delivering this project from Clockhouse Community Centre, which will act as our main distribution and support hub.
What is the National Databank?
Like a foodbank but for mobile data, the National Databank provides free mobile SIM cards for people who can’t access the internet.
Internet access is essential in today’s society, and yet 2 million households have no home internet, and 2.4 million can't afford a mobile phone contract. This lack of access often affects vulnerable people facing other inequalities.
The aim is to reduce digital exclusion and support access to essential online services.
What is the National Device Bank?
The National Device Bank provides laptops, mobile phones and tablets to individuals who may not have access to a device.
The National Device Bank was originally created in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, when the internet became a lifeline to stay connected with loved ones.
The aim is to reduce digital exclusion and support access to essential online services.
Who can get support?
The National Databank and Device Bank is for adults aged 18+ who are on a low income and do not have sufficient access to mobile data or the internet.
Our priority groups include:
Refugees with newly granted status housed in Greenwich, Lewisham and Bexley
People on the Afghan Resettlement Scheme
People on the Homes for Ukraine scheme
Migrants with no recourse to public funds
Vulnerable migrant women
Older refugees experiencing digital exclusion
Many of these clients struggle to access online services, ESOL learning, healthcare, education portals, and job applications due to lack of connectivity.
