50+ Wellbeing Project

A well-being support project for seniors aged over 50 who arrived in the UK on the Homes for Ukraine Resettlement scheme in the London Borough of Lewisham.

Our mission is to support the wellbeing and social inclusion of people aged 50+, reducing isolation, strengthening cultural identity, and helping them build meaningful connections in their new community.

Our activities & sessions

We meet weekly, offering various activities to enhance your physical, mental and social well-being.

All activities, including snacks, are completely FREE.

We aim to foster a sense of belonging and emotional well-being within a friendly community.

Who can join the project

  • individuals who is over 50 years old,

  • arrived to the UK after the 24th of February 2022,

  • currently live in the London Borough of Lewisham.

Our project activities are designed to support wellbeing, reduce isolation, and create a sense of belonging for people aged 50+

  • Community Gatherings

    These gatherings create a welcoming space where participants can preserve cultural heritage, share traditions, and build new friendships.

    Coming together helps reduce loneliness, encourages relaxation, and boosts mental health and emotional wellbeing.

  • Culture Get-to-Know

    Workshops and interactive sessions help participants explore UK culture, practice English, and gain confidence in everyday interactions.

    These activities make the process of integration smoother and allow people to feel more at home in their new environment after forced migration.

  • Trips and Outings

    Excursions to local sights and cultural places give participants opportunities to practice their language skills, discover the country they now live in, and enjoy life despite financial or mobility challenges.

    These outings provide opportunities to socialise, build friendships, and experience joy and discovery together.

Our mission is to support the wellbeing and social inclusion of people aged 50+, reducing isolation, strengthening cultural identity, and helping them build meaningful connections in their new community.

We create a sense of trust, stability, and belonging through community gatherings, where participants can share traditions, celebrate culture, and boost mental health while forming lasting friendships.

We provide cultural learning sessions and English practice that empower participants to navigate daily life with confidence, integrate into society, and feel valued for their lived experience.

Additionally, trips and outings enable participants to explore the UK, discover new places, and overcome financial or mobility challenges—bringing joy, shared experiences, and a stronger sense of belonging.

  • Unfortunately, no. We can only accept individuals who meet the following requirements: they must be over 50 years old, have arrived in the UK after 24 February 2022, and currently reside in the London Borough of Lewisham. 

  • All activities are completely free, including snacks, thanks to funding from Lewisham Borough of Sanctuary. Registration is required to participate in 50+ Project activities. 

  • We meet weekly on Thursdays at 10am to 12pm. The exact locations vary, we announce it only to our project participants.

This project is commissioned by Lewisham Borough of Santuary and thanks to funding our project provides safe and welcoming space for Ukrainian people aged 50 and over who arrived in the UK under the H4U Scheme and live in Lewisham to connect, share experiences, and build friendships!
