Self-Discovery Starts with Opportunity: Celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week 2025

Every child deserves the chance to explore who they are, what excites them, and where they belong. This Children’s Mental Health Week, running from 3–9 February 2025, we join Place2Be in celebrating the theme: "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself."

At New Arrivals Support CIC, we know that for refugee and migrant children, the journey of self-discovery can be filled with barriers—but it can also be full of promise. Through our Maliatko Project and Ukrainian Youth Project Lewisham, we create opportunities for young migrants and newly arrived children to learn, play, and express themselves in safe, inclusive, and creative environments.

Our work is grounded in the belief that hands-on experiences help build not just skills, but also confidence, curiosity, and resilience. Whether it’s through creative workshops, video production, drawing and crafting sessions, or group masterclasses, each activity offers a pathway to discovery. Children and young people are encouraged to try something new, make friends, and begin to see the endless possibilities that lie ahead.

Our youth support programmes are more than just a space for learning—they are communities of care. Designed with a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach, our projects help children who have experienced displacement to find joy, connection, and belonging.

How can we create more spaces where young people from migrant and refugee backgrounds feel free to explore, learn, and grow?

Let’s start the conversation. Let’s take action.
