We`re hiring a Head of Operations!

Purpose of the Role

The Head of Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring the effective day-to-day running of New Arrivals Support CIC. The postholder will provide operational oversight across programmes, people, and systems to support the organisation’s stability, quality of delivery, and sustainable growth.

Working closely with the Founder & Managing Director, the role will translate organisational priorities into practical implementation, strengthen internal capacity, and ensure that services are delivered in a coordinated, compliant, and participant-centred way.

The Head of Operations will collaborate with staff, volunteers, partner organisations, and stakeholders to support refugees and migrants in building stability, connection, and independence in the UK.

  • Location: Royal Borough of Greenwich, London (primarily in-person, with some flexibility for occasional remote working)

  • Salary: Starting from £48,000 per year (Full-Time Equivalent)

  • Hours: Part-time, 0.6 FTE (22.5 hours per week), with potential to increase as the role develops

  • Reporting to: Founder & Managing Director

  • Contract: 12-month fixed-term interim contract, with potential to become permanent, subject to funding

  • Start date: 1 April 2026

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Continuity

  • Lead the organisation’s day-to-day operations, ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with our agreed strategy.

  • Ensure effective coordination across all functions, projects, and teams.

  • Strengthen internal systems and processes, including HR practices, staff appraisals, and organisational workflows, to improve effectiveness and consistency.

Programme Delivery & Community Support

  • Oversee the delivery of organisational programmes and projects.

  • Coordinate outreach and engagement activities that encourage participation from diverse community groups.

  • Support the planning, setup, and delivery of community events

Project Administration

  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation related to participants and activities

  • Prepare and manage documentation for project reporting and evaluation

  • Assist in developing project plans, timetables, and impact monitoring

  • Support compliance with funder reporting requirements

Finance & organisational management

  • Work with the Director and finance officer to manage budgets, monitor spend, and strengthen financial controls.

  • Support funding delivery requirements (reporting deadlines, evidence, outputs/outcomes).

  • Coordinate operational planning for new projects and growth.

Partnerships & Liaison

  • Build and sustain positive working relationships with partner organisations, local authorities, volunteers, and community groups

  • Coordinate referrals and signposting to relevant services

  • Represent NASCIC at external meetings, forums, and partnership networks when appropriate

Governance, Compliance & Safeguarding

  • Ensure organisational policies (safeguarding, data protection, health & safety, equality and diversity, complaints) are up to date, implemented, and regularly reviewed.

  • Oversee compliance with relevant legislation, funder requirements, and good practice standards.

  • Support governance processes, including the preparation of reports, risk management, and liaison with the managing director.

  • Promote a strong culture of safeguarding and safe practice across all services involving children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

  • Ensure appropriate procedures are followed for managing incidents, concerns, and referrals in line with organisational safeguarding policies.

  • Maintain high standards of confidentiality, professional conduct, and ethical practice across the organisation.

Person specification

Essential

  • Experience in a leadership or management role within the VCSE sector

  • Proven ability to line manage, support, and develop staff, including supervision and performance management.

  • Strong operational capability, including improving systems, processes, and service delivery

  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a small organisation

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, calm leadership style

  • Commitment to New Arrivals Support CIC’s mission and respectful engagement with refugee and migrant communities

Desirable

  • Experience working with refugee, migrant, or displaced communities, or in trauma-informed environments

  • Knowledge of safeguarding practice in community settings.

  • Familiarity with UK public service systems (e.g., housing, benefits, healthcare, education)

  • Experience improving governance, compliance, or financial processes in a small organisation

  • Knowledge of the VCSE landscape in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and neighbouring boroughs

  • Experience coordinating events, workshops, or community engagement activities

  • Experience working with Ukrainian and other refugee or resettled communities
