Family friendly day of celebration, connection, and cultural exchange in the welcoming surroundings of the Royal Observatory Gardens.

The Greenwich Community Picnic aims to bring together refugee, migrant, and local residents for a day of celebration, connection, and cultural exchange in the welcoming surroundings of the Royal Observatory Gardens, Greenwich Park.

12:00 – 12:30 Arrival of guests and welcome circle 

12:30 – 15:45  Shared picnic and social time: Bubble show, Family games and free play

  • 12:30 – 12:45 Song performance from the Ukrainian Older People's Wellbeing Project 

  • 12:45 – 13:45 Children’s performance (dance, songs, poetry) 

  • 13:45 – 14:15 Tai Chi session

  • 14:00 – 14:45 Yoga session

15:45 - 16:00 Closing remarks 

The event will provide a safe, inclusive, and family-friendly environment where people can share food, enjoy performances, take part in wellbeing activities, and build relationships across communities.

By creating opportunities for people to meet, talk, and participate in shared experiences, the picnic will strengthen community ties, promote understanding between cultures, and enhance participants’ sense of belonging in Greenwich and Lewisham.
