How NASCIC Celebrates Community This Valentine’s Day
At New Arrivals Support CIC (NASCIC), Valentine’s Day isn’t just about flowers and cards—it’s about compassion, connection, and community. This year, we’re honouring the idea of love in action: the everyday ways we support each other, especially those who are rebuilding their lives in a new country.
💬 Love Isn’t Just Words—It’s What We Do
Across London, migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers face challenges far beyond relocation. Many arrive with limited access to housing, language barriers, trauma, and uncertainty about their rights. That’s why at New Arrivals Support CIC, we don’t just offer services—we offer solidarity.
Love in action is:
Helping families fleeing war find a safe home
Supporting Ukrainian and Afghan communities with bilingual casework and trauma-informed care
Running early years support programmes like the Maliatko Project
Hosting creative youth workshops through our Ukrainian Youth Project in Lewisham
Offering ESOL classes, job readiness sessions, and digital literacy training
Creating community spaces like The Heritage Bookshelf, the first Ukrainian community library in South East London
Providing emotional well-being support and peer groups for women, seniors, and young people
🤝 Rooted in Lived Experience, Driven by Community
Many members of the NASCIC team have lived experience of migration, which means we understand the complexities of starting over. Our work is co-designed with and for the communities we serve, ensuring our support is relevant, culturally sensitive, and effective.
We are proud to be a grassroots organisation that puts community voices at the centre of everything we do. Whether it’s responding to a crisis, launching a new initiative, or simply offering a listening ear, our commitment is always the same: to stand with new arrivals in the UK as they rebuild their lives with dignity.
