Energy-Saving Workshop for Afghan refugees

At New Arrivals Support, we are committed to helping refugees and migrants settle into life in the UK by providing essential resources, advocacy, and well-being services. This month, we successfully hosted an insightful energy-saving workshop tailored for Afghan refugees under the Afghan Resettlement Scheme. The workshop was organised in collaboration with the National Energy Action (NEA) Charity and focused on practical strategies for managing energy consumption and reducing household costs.

Helping New Arrivals Navigate the UK’s Energy Landscape

The British climate is unpredictable, and winters can be especially cold! For many new arrivals, adjusting to energy bills, heating systems, and the cost of living in the UK can be challenging. That’s why our bilingual casework and community events include vital sessions on energy-saving techniques, ensuring that newly arrived migrants have the knowledge and tools to keep their homes warm without excessive costs.

What We Covered:

✅ Steps to take when moving into a new home

✅ How to contact energy companies for support

✅ Understanding and managing energy bills

✅ Practical energy-saving tips to reduce costs and stay warm

Rewarding Participation with Energy-Saving Prizes!

To make the learning experience even more valuable, we handed out slow cookers and air fryers as prizes to participants! These energy-efficient appliances help new arrivals save money on electricity while preparing nutritious meals for their families.

Expanding Support for More Communities

We’re excited to announce, we will be delivering similar workshops for Ukrainian new arrivals, ensuring that more communities benefit from our expertise in welfare, financial independence, and cultural understanding. Our goal is to provide tailored support that empowers refugees and migrants with essential life skills for integration in the UK.

A huge thank you to NEA for their partnership in delivering these important sessions! At New Arrivals Support, we continue to advocate for sustainable, cost-effective solutions to help new arrivals build a stable future.

Stay connected with us for more community events, workshops, and practical resources to support your journey in the UK!
