Youth Work Week 2024
At New Arrivals Support CIC (NASCIC), we are committed to fostering community, resilience, and empowerment for refugees and migrants across London. This #YouthWorkWeek2024, we were honored to participate in an inspiring event organised by London Youth, bringing together passionate youth workers from across the city to celebrate and strengthen youth work initiatives.
Ukrainian Youth Project Lewisham: A Safe Space for Young Ukrainians
One of NASCIC’s flagship programs, the Ukrainian Youth Project Lewisham (UYPL), has been making a significant impact on young Ukrainians resettling in the UK. Designed to support young people who fled the war, this initiative provides creative activities, team-building sessions, and a nurturing community that helps combat isolation and foster a sense of belonging.
Over the past year, UYPL has engaged with over 40 young Ukrainians, aged 11 to 17, offering them a safe space for personal growth, connection, and cultural exchange. As we mark the project’s one-year anniversary this November, we celebrate the resilience and achievements of these young individuals who are rebuilding their lives in Lewisham.
Strengthening Youth Support Through Community Collaboration
Attending #YouthWorkWeek2024 reinforced NASCIC’s commitment to supporting young refugees and migrants. By collaborating with organisations like London Youth, we continue to expand our impact, advocate for inclusive youth work policies, and enhance opportunities for young people in the resettlement process.
As we look ahead, NASCIC remains dedicated to growing the Ukrainian Youth Project Lewisham, strengthening partnerships, and providing essential support services that empower young arrivals to thrive in their new communities.
